FAFSA Fiesta Preview Day

This past Friday, the Enrollment Department with the assistance of Student Life and the Associated Student Body (ASB) team, hosted our first Preview Day for the Fall Semester. This was a very special preview day because it was focused on providing financial aid assistance to the prospective students and their families.  We provided training on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA Fiesta Powerpoint). We understand that this process can be intimidating at times, so we wanted to take the time to remove any barriers of confusion.

It was our very first FAFSA Fiesta! Our guests enjoyed breakfast burritos from El Super Taco and street tacos for lunch from Eva’s Taqueria Food Truck. We started out in the morning at our Classic Venue on Campus – with worship and the word brought by one of our Seniors and ASB Class Vice-President, Josiah Hernandez. In his message he shared his testimony about how he felt called to come to NHCC, once he laid down his own desires and expectations. The main theme of his message was, “It’s not about you.” He shared that we can sometimes get caught in the mindset of thinking that we know what’s best for ourselves, but God is truly the only one that can bring us peace and clarity for which direction to go.

Furthermore, we got to hear more of the heart behind the message from our ASB team during a student panel. Dr. Donald Grafton asked each ASB team member questions about their decision to attend NHCC and how that decision has impacted their lives. This panel gave prospective students the opportunity to hear from our current students. Not only were they able to share the things that they’ve learned so far, but they were also able to reflect on how their lives have been changed by being a student at NHCC. We were all inspired to keep our eyes on Jesus and “Follow the Call” that He has placed on our lives.

Something we really cherish here is community; therefore, our heart behind our Preview Day events is to provide students an opportunity to be on campus so they can envision themselves here. Students were provided a tour of the campus facilities, Hornshuh Hall and Meyer Hall (dorms), the recording studio, and our very own lab church – New Hope West.

The fun didn’t stop there! In the evening, several of our Preview Day attendees attended the Harvest Fest hosted by the ASB Team and Student Life, at the New Hope Ranch. This provided an opportunity to get to know them even more and celebrate the beginning of the Fall season with food, fellowship, and games.

If you or someone you know is interested in going into full time ministry, we invite you to join us for our next Preview Day on Thursday, November 10th! It’s never too late to follow the call and step into what God has in store for you.
