New Hope Christian College is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education Commission on Accreditation (5850 T. G. Lee Blvd., Ste. 130, Orlando, FL 32822, 407.207.0808) to grant certificates and degrees at the Associate and Baccalaureate levels.

NHCC has been fully accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE) since 1983. ABHE is the oldest Bible college accreditation agency in the United States, specializing in the biblical ministry formation and professional leadership education. It is officially recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). It is also one of the eight regional associations that make up the International Council for Evangelical Theological Education (ICETE), representing North America.

It has been unfortunate that some larger institutions have needlessly inflated their educational credentials (USDE), but recent legislation has, “end[ed] the outdated concept of regional accreditation and clarify[ied] that the Department [of Education] holds all accreditors to the same standards” (USDE). The US Department of Education goes on to say, "As a result, students should not face barriers to career entry and mobility or to continuing education, based solely on which accreditor oversees the school they attended" (USDE).

You will notice that ABHE and the Regional Accrediting Organizations have the exact same recognition by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the Department of Education (CHEA).

The State of Oregon has changed its languageof "regional accreditation" to "an institutional accrediting agency approved by the USDE" (348.594 Definitions for ORS 348.594 to 348.615) through Oregon law through House Bill 3564, which was passed and signed by the Governor in August of 2023 (HB3564).
Accordingly, with these recent rulings and the complementary protections afforded for faith-based institutions against discrimination, we are hopeful that every university will honor the educational achievements of our students and transfer credit fairly. That being said, transfer of credit is always at the discretion of the receiving school and generally depends on comparability of the curricula.
