A practicum is a hands-on learning experience integrated into a student's academic program. At NHCC, our practicum course provides students with practical ministry training, allowing them to develop skills, gain valuable experience, and build a portfolio while still in school. NHCC students graduate with not only a degree but also 1,400–1,600 hours of practicum experience. This unique opportunity enables students to be mentored and work closely with our professional instructors on campus.

Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Ministry Leadership or Creative Arts all have credit requirements for practicum or electives. All students are encouraged to participate in serving, but students who do not wish to take the practicum class are able to enroll in elective classes instead. Ministry areas on campus through our lab church include: youth ministry, children's ministry, tech and production, music and worship, communication, hospitality, edification, and more. Students can also carry out their practicum hours at their local church.

Yes, students can complete their practicum by serving at their home church. Working under the guidance of a church leader, their service can count toward college credit.
