We hope you are enjoying the fall weather! This week, we wanted to share with you this devotional written by Pastor Wayne Cordeiro.
Today’s Reading:
Job 16; Acts 21,22,23
Scripture
“… But on the night immediately following, the Lord stood at his side and said, ‘Take courage, for as you have solemnly witnessed to My cause at Jerusalem, so you must witness at Rome also.’” (Acts 23:11)
Observation
Paul lived a life of confidence even though his journey would be replete with suffering. His path would find him shipwrecked, bitten by a snake, and he’d have to endure death threats. His life wasn’t one of convenience and comfort. But then again, that wasn’t his goal. His goal was to fulfill God’s call on his life.
The Lord told him he’d end up in Rome when he was in Israel, many miles away. However, he knew that God had given him an overall goal, so it would be up to God to take care of the way that would get him there. So Paul just had to keep running in that direction, even though he didn’t know the details of the trip.
Application
He didn’t know the “how,” but he knew the “what,” and that was enough to give Paul his basic direction and confidence. He knew which way to run — it was toward Rome.
I, too, must know the “what” of my life. The “how” will come. So, I shall preach the Gospel, equip leaders, and influence the next generation for Christ. I will stand for the truth and hold high the blood-stained banner of Jesus Christ. I must keep myself healthy and retain a sense of holiness in living so that I will be worthy of his favor and call.
Prayer
Thank you for Your calling that gives me my overall direction. Sometimes I think I need all the details. I don’t. If you gave me all the details, I’d be overwhelmed, and that’s where the enemy would hide and derail me! Help me to remain faithful, and even though the journey might take me down a few alleys, I will keep my eyes on the lit cross of Christ and run toward You!
If you feel God is calling you to do more and be more, start your application today, and see how God will open doors for you. Our admissions team would love to get connected with you and work with you as you follow God’s calling!
