On Track to Success!

Students who graduate from New Hope Christian College graduate with both the experience and degree they need to lead and make a difference for the Kingdom of God. However, without an accrediting agency holding NHCC to specified standards of excellence, the degree itself would be the same as a certificate printed at home. NHCC, however, is accredited by the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE), the oldest Bible college accreditation agency in the United States, specializing in biblical ministry formation and professional leadership education. It is officially recognized by both the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). NHCC is pleased to be one of the more than 150 institutions of biblical higher education that have proven the value of their degree through the accreditation process with ABHE.

Every ten years, NHCC goes through a process of submitting evidence of what we do on campus to ABHE to apply for another ten years of accreditation. Through this rigorous assessment process, we also receive feedback on how we are doing as an institution. Recently, NHCC was reaffirmed for accreditation for another ten years through ABHE based on this assessment. We are honored to share with you how ABHE has commended the college as well as provided suggestions for improvement.

We have some things to work on that will make us even more effective: improve the way we track library statistics, continue the process of updating our library to increase access to digital resources, and apply assessment processes to improve student retention. One of the improvements we have made since we received this feedback is the complete renovation of our Flint building. We completely renovated and reorganized our library and added a modern study area to increase student usage of the library. Additionally, we are updating our systems to better track statistics while also applying various feedback we have received

Two of the most notable commendations that ABHE gave are below:

1. The Team commends the Institution for its exemplary commitment to state-of-the-art communication technology that serves the Institution by providing a laboratory for student learning (Standard 6d: EE 1).

One feature of NHCC that stands out to both students and our accrediting agency is our lab church. Students are able to learn in class and then apply this knowledge directly through our lab church where students are able to learn and lead in the areas of worship, pastoring, photography, counseling, audio engineering, children’s education, and so much more! Students are able to work hands-on alongside experienced mentors, and this gives students a competitive edge as they graduate with both a degree and a resume.

2. The Team commends the Institution for its academic leadership and spiritually mature faculty who engage in modeling and mentoring relationships that foster a culture of service, as evidenced through the church lab model on campus (Standard 8: EE 5; Standard 9a: EE 1; Standard 5: EE 4).

Along those lines, NHCC is commended for our staff and mentors on campus. We have been recognized as having academically, spiritually, and professionally strong staff who are actively engaged in mentorship with the students and are strong role models for our students.

We are grateful for the opportunity to have this assessment from ABHE as it shows us where we have room for improvement as well as where we are excelling. NHCC continues to stand with and uphold ABHE’s standards of accreditation whose mission is to “Advance Biblical Higher Education For Kingdom Impact” (ABHE).

Our mission: “New Hope Christian College, an institution of higher education, exists to disciple emerging Christian leaders by developing their theology, ministry skills, and character in order to win souls, plant fruitful churches, and lead as exemplary ambassadors for Christ in the ministry and marketplace.”
