August 26, 2022, marks our next New Hope Classic Golf Tournament! This year’s event, sponsored by Skeie’s Jewelers, will take place at Emerald Valley Golf Course.

The New Hope Classic is a tournament that benefits our New Hope students with scholarships. Last year’s tournament was a huge success, bringing in $67,895. The success of this fundraiser was made possible by individuals and businesses who believe in the mission of New Hope and want to invest in our students and their calling to ministry.

Under the leadership of Pastor Wayne, Stephen Kenny, Billy Anderson, and Rob Funk, who are so passionate about our students, last year’s tournament was a huge hit. Golfers arrived at 8am to a live band, hot coffee and doughnuts, and NHCC students warmly welcoming them to the course. Not long into the tournament, golfers experienced a deluge for about an hour.  Our hardcore Eugenian’s, however, weren’t phased by the downpour and golfed through the weather, after which the sun came out and golfers finished the tournament in beautiful sunny warm weather, concluding with lunch and an awards ceremony on a patio overlooking the beautiful course. Golfers experienced community and bonding, as well as much opportunity to interact with the students.

Students involved in the tournament were so blessed to get to interact with people who were personally investing in their education and their ministry training. They also enjoyed running the tournament so much that they are very eager for August 26 and are excitedly talking about our upcoming tournament. One student, Dora Lauti, appreciated how getting to see donors in their element on the golf course, in a relaxed manner, allowed her to really get to know them on a personal level. She said that these people who she looks up to as successful individuals can sometimes seem so important and intimidating. Seeing them in their element, however, and golfers being so personable and interactive, gave Dora an opportunity to see the humanity and kindness of our donors on a personal level, and it gave her a greater appreciation for the people behind those titles for their generosity for investing in her scholarships.
