So far, my journey at New Hope Christian College has been amazing and challenging at the same time. It forced me to grow as a person and challenged me to develop my faith. Oftentimes it is challenging to put our faith and our development in other people’s hands or to pursue a plan we don’t know the end to; however, I left my comfort zone and flew to a completely different country far away from everything I knew was because it was a plan from God—a plan to make me grow. I don’t think I could have done this without the professors in our college and the people from New Hope West.
Hi, I am Daniel Vicente, a junior studying pastoral studies here at NHCC. A quick background of who I am: I am a pastor’s kid and have a lovely family that has gladly supported me throughout my entire walk in Christ and life. I am Portuguese and 23 years old.
During my time at New Hope, I have come to realize just how important community and mentorship are. The connections I’ve made here have been priceless, helping me grow personally and shaping my future in ministry. My friends here have become like a second family, offering support and keeping me accountable, and the faculty here have been key in guiding both my studies and the development of my faith. Every interaction, whether in class or during services, has shown me that we are all part of something bigger. This feeling of being in the right place has made my experiences richer and strengthened my commitment to serving others and living out my faith sincerely.
It has been a pleasure to be here in this community, and I want to mention someone who has been a great influence on my walk and the leader I am becoming. He has supported me and challenged me to go beyond my limits. With gratitude, I want to thank Pastor Steve for all of the time he invested in me to develop my call and my skills.
With all of this being said, I want to leave you with something that changed my life forever, and I hope it will change yours too: Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”This verse reminds me daily to trust God’s plan, even when it feels uncomfortable.
