Christian Counseling

Students in the Christian Counseling Concentration are prepared to approach Christian counseling ministries from a biblical perspective. With mental health becoming an epidemic, the Church needs a prepared response. Students earning New Hope’s BS in Ministry Leadership concentrating in Christian Counseling have gone on to serve as counselors at traumatized youth treatment facilities, leadership roles in drug and alcohol recovery organizations, and have utilized their counseling skills in ministry positions in local churches. Others have recently been accepted into CACREP accredited graduate programs and are successfully working towards Masters degrees in counseling. Through our on-site lab church, New Hope West, students wishing to gain counseling experience are able to work with senior pastors and gain experience on live counseling sessions with members of the congregation.

“We are “one” in body, soul, and spirit, and our whole being is precious and blessed by God. The New Hope counseling program is dedicated to equip responsible pastors, biblically based counselors, and lay ministers to look at the whole person, their roles and relationships, their culture, the context and times in which they live, and the systems within which they must function—while developing an attuned ear to the Holy Spirit’s divine guidance."
