Hodges Shoots down the Deacons 89-78; Multnomah Snaps Slide

Eugene, Ore - Multnomah University (3-4), behind a 30-point outburst from guard Austin Hodges, downed New Hope Christian College (0-5) 89-78, as the Lions snapped a three-game losing streak with Tuesday night’s win.

The sophomore from Portland, hit three of the Lions’ five three-point field goals to spark a 26-11 run to start the second-half of play after MU took a slim 36-35 lead at the intermission. The Lions also held a frontcourt presence with the play of David Walker, who poured in 18 points from the block with an assist. The Lions forced the Deacons into 23 turnovers on the night and took advantage of NHCC miscues with a 24-7 edge in points off turnovers.

The Deacons countered with solid interior post play from freshman center Forest Stolk, as the Chandler, Arizona native notched a career-high 14 points and 25 rebounds. Guard Cameron Fry paced NHCC with 18 points (4 of 11 from beyond the arc) as all five Deacons’ starters scored in double figures on the night. Guard Quincy Alexander posted a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

NHCC returns to action Thursday night, as Cascade Collegiate Conference favorite Eastern Oregon University invades the Rexius Event Center with a scheduled start of 7 pm. The Deacons are in the midst of a four-game homestand, which concludes Tuesday, November 22nd against Warner Pacific.
