Deacons close out 2011, run away from Boxers in 66-38 triumph
Eugene, Ore – Thursday night December 29 at the Rexius Event Center, the New Hope Christian College Men’s Basketball team played a full 40 minutes of basketball forcing 16 Boxers’ miscues and promptly converted Pacific’s errors into 26 points. In addition to avenging a loss to Pacific just ten days ago, NHCC (3-15) routed the Boxers 66-38 as the Deacons concluded the non-conference games of their schedule and now await the start of 2012 Conference action.
One of the more impressive feats may have come at the charity stripe for NHCC, as the Deacons shot 20-of-23 (8 of 8 in the opening half of play) from the line. Freshman Center Forest Stolk again recorded a double-double with 18 rebounds and 13 points, and guard Quincy Alexander added 13 points (4 of 7 from the field, 3 of 4 from beyond the arc) and recorded three assists.
The Boxers struggled from the field, as the pressure defense by the Deacons limited Pacific to 26% from the field (including shooting 1 of 10 in the first half of play from the perimeter), and Pacific finished the night 2 of 17 from distance.
NHCC returns to the court in 2012, with back-to-back conference road trips to Walla Walla, and Portland to open up conference play. The Deacons return home January 13th, as La Sierra pays a visit to Eugene.
